Potassium Amyl Xanthate (PAX)
General Description
Potassium Amyl Xanthate (PAX) is a chemical product in granular solid form, appearing light yellow, with the molecular formula C₆H₁₁KOS₂ and a molecular weight of 202.4g/mol. Its active content reaches 90.45% and hydrolysis rate is 4.9%. This product is mainly applied in multiple fields: it serves as a flotation agent for minerals including copper, molybdenum, cobalt, zinc and nickel in the mining industry, acts as a common powder collecting agent in the mining sector, and also has uses in the chemical industry. It can be delivered in different packaging options based on customer requirements: solid pellets with a minimum content of 90-92% can be packaged in wooden cartons, tankers, wagons or iron drums; solid powder with a content of 85-90% can be packed in 25kg bags or 900-950kg jumbo bags. It is synthesized via the reaction of C₅H₁₁OH, CS₂ and KOH, which generates C₆H₁₁KOS₂ and H₂O.
